設立沿革

Establishment & History To be progressive in multimedia and animation design, the Department of Multimedia and Animation of Tainan University of Technology (TUT) was founded in 2008. The Department is affiliated with the Design College of TUT, aiming to develop talents’ integration capability in multimedia technology, animation design, culture, and creative field.


教育目標

The objectives of the Department are to cultivate professionals in the culture and creative industry who demonstrate humanistic quality, independent thinking, holistic development, animation design, and integration capability in the multimedia technology field.

1. Integration Capability for Personnel Development in the Animation Creation and Multimedia: The Department aims to cultivate individuals in the multimedia, animation design, culture, and creative industry. The courses provide comprehensive and professional animation creation teaching, equipping students with the ability to design projects independently and as a group, participate in various competitions and vocational certification exams as well as run business proposals.
2. Development of Professional Creativity with Techniques of Hand-drawn and Digital Painting: The Department emphasizes basic painting training, traditional media, and digital painting skills the same. Courses also provide the integration of visual arts and video design concepts and other professional skills training. Additionally, the content of Motion Graphics encourages students to combine animation, videos, and music to express the variety and practicality of their works.
3. Theory and Practice of Industry-academia Competition Development: Our team with diverse expertise offers project internship and mentorships to assist industry-academia cooperation and other professional services. By boosting the growth of the culture industry, students are able to learn both theories and practices, turning themselves to be more skilled and sophisticated.
4. Integrated with the International Trends in the Culture and Creative Industry and Preparing Students with Global Perspectives: To learn more about global trends and broaden horizons for the faculty and the students, we host on-campus lectures, seminars, workshops, visitations, and communications with domestic as well as international experts.


教育特色

The Department follows the University emblem motto and educational philosophy, which are “only when learning and thinking are equally emphasized can learners achieve the greatest accomplishments”, “Six Ways of Life”, “excellent teaching”, “institute of culture and creativity”, as well as “practical technology professionals.” We focus on providing holistic development in Humanics and Technology, scheming detailed educational goals, such as humanistic literacy, independent thinking, and holistic education. With the assistance of integrated designing atmosphere of the College of Design, we cultivated cultural and creative talents having the ability of animation designing, and integration capability in the multimedia technology field. The features of the Department are:
1. Develop talents in creating unique animation: We teach every step of creating hand-drawn animation, cultivating more professional individuals in the 3D animation field in the future.
2. Develop talents in using multimedia: By providing motion graphics designing courses, students are able to integrate what they have learned with mobile media exhibition technology.‬
3. Focus both on hand-drawn and digital drawing skills: The teaching goals firstly emphasize the training of traditional painting techniques, which can be used to create artworks by using the advanced digital technology of painting.
4. Learn theories and practices: Enrolled students will learn creative aesthetic theory and literacy. Also, teams with mentorships will be offered opportunities to carry out industry-academia cooperation and other projects.
5. Integrate global trends with the culture and creative industry: We value global trends in relative industries. Therefore, hosting lectures or workshops with international experts, film festivals in different countries, and academic visits/exchanges allows students to gain first-hand information.
6. Build outstanding competition: We highly encourage students to cultivate phenomenal capabilities and participate in various international contests.


產業交流

Other than learning theories and conducting hands-on practices, the Department also assists students to build basic competitiveness before graduation by providing industry-academia cooperation, mentorships, and internships. In addition, students are able to participate in contests, certificate exams, and business proposals in different fields. In recent years, industry-academia proposals conducted by students include animation, filmmaking, and multimedia displays. After the collaboration, students might be offered internships or a job position, demonstrating the outstanding result of the teaching of our department.


獎學金

TUT provides the following scholarships: Scholarships for students from high schools or vocational high schools, Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Performance, Project-making Scholarship, Certificate Scholarship, Scholarship for Students from Low-income Families, Higher Education Sprout Project, Private Donor Scholarships by organizations/associations, Han-Jia Culture and Education Foundation Scholarship, etc.


升學

TUT has a Master of Program in Innovative Applied Design and a Master's Program in Fine Arts. Numerous students have studied in different master’s degree programs domestically and globally.


就業

The majority of our graduates continue to engage as photographers, camera assistants, scriptwriters, directors, program directors, video editors, animators, multimedia designers, or staff in visual art, interactive multimedia design, video exhibition, post-production, 2D/3D animation design, or the character design field.

1. Job positions in the animation field: hand-drawn animator, 2D/3D animator, puppet animator, character designer, set designer, storyboard creator, screenwriters, post-production animator, cartoonist, etc.
2. Job positions in the multimedia field: Personnel in the interactive technology exhibition or digital archiving, interactive multimedia, multimedia game designer, webpage designer, interactive book designer, tour designer, user interface designer, etc.

3. Job positions in the motion graphics field: Short film producer, microcinema producer, post-production personnel, commercial video maker, infographic designer, motion designer, online material maker, music video producer, etc.


 

未來願景

With the rapid multimedia development and updated digital technology, the Department aims to position itself in the international market instead of staying in southern Taiwan only. Talents receiving our education are expected to have an outstanding performance in any place in the world. Hence, we have planned different on-campus events, lectures, seminars, workshops, overseas visits, and exchanges with foreign experts. Moreover, academic collaborative arrangements between TUT and other overseas universities, Japanese guest lecturer teaching for a semester, and American guest lecturer hosting a one-week workshop provide students with opportunities to learn from experts in different nationalities. Thereby, our students have more chances to explore different possibilities and learn more about global trends based on hand-drawn courses, computer courses, and industry-academia cooperation.
